"Be brave and strong. We're all behind you," Talab el-Sana (United Arab List-Ta'al) told former MK and Azmi Bishara (Balad). The two met in the Qatari capital, Doha, where Bishara is meant to speak at a conference.
The Balad chairman submitted his resignation to the Israeli ambassador to Cairo on Monday. His place in the Knesset will be taken by party member Said Nafaa.
While in Qatar, el-Sana met with Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Moallem and Lebanese Foreign Minister Fawsi Salloukh.
The Knesset member spoke with Moallem about the Arab peace initiative, as well as the duty of every nation in the region to advance the peace process. Moallem responded that the Syrians are serious about their intentions regarding peace and are reaching out a hand to Israel.
El-Sana intends to stay in Qatar until Thursday in order to take part in the Doha conference. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon and Arab League Secretary-General Amr Musa are also expected to attend the event, which will deal with democracy, economic development and free trade.
While in the country, el-Sana is also expected to meet with Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, as well as with the Qatari prime minister and foreign minister.
The MK spoke with his colleagues about the importance of the Arab peace initiative for the advancement of peace in the region and highlighted the importance of strengthening ties between Arab-Israelis and neighboring Arab states.
