APA-Dakar (Senegal) The Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, is taking part in the 7th Doha Interfaith Dialogue Conference which opens Tuesday under the slogan “Human Solidarity” in the Qatari capital, Doha.

In a statement copied to APA, Ihsanoglu will address the opening session of the Conference which focuses on the inter-religious solidarity needed to face the current humanity issues, such as the lack of social justice, the deterioration of human rights and basic freedoms, as well as the widening gab between the rich and the poor.

The two-day event is expected to bring together more than 170 religious leaders, scholars and secular experts from various backgrounds worldwide to discuss the current issues facing the world communities, notably wars, natural disasters, starvation, poverty, and pandemics.

Among others issues, the participants are expected to set up pillars of the desired solidarity with the view of establishing a decent and happy existence for humanity, regardless of their religious, ethnic origins, language, culture or race.

The Conference will also be an opportunity to discuss attacks perpetrated against religious groups and holy places and seek to remove the psychological barriers standing between the followers of divine religions.
