Warning over energy security

ENERGY security is in a state of flux because of declining US influence in the Middle East and oil producers face more risk due to Washington’s strategically “faulty� foreign policies, which are more confrontationist than co-operative, according to experts.

Global experts discussing the future of the Middle East’s economy at the conference called on the GCC states to talk directly to Iran and the US in a bid to resolve the problems facing the region and help restore peace.
Regional security important for global stability

The success of the Gulf States in their economic and social development plans is essential to achieve the political stability sought to safeguard the region's energy supply to the global economy.

This was stated by H E Sheikh Hamad bin Jabor bin Jassim Al Thani, Secretary of the Planning Council at the opening session of the second 'Enriching The Middle East Economic Future Conference'
