The Enriching the Middle East''s Economic Future Conference / Session

The Enriching the Middle East''s Economic Future Conference held its first session this evening at the Ritz-Carlton, entitled "Reflections in the region and visions for the future." Speakers at this meeting led by Professor Steven Spiegel, Director of Middle East Development at the University of California, discussed a number of important issues on the Middle East Economic Future and touched on the challenges facing the region, especially the achievement of peace and resolve Arab-Israeli conflict as one of the key factors that lead to the development and prosperity for all countries in the region. Addressing the session, HE Assistant Foreign Minister for Follow-Up Affairs and Head of the Permanent Committee for Conferences at the foreign ministery Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Rumaihi, welcomed the attendees and pointed out that Doha has become since the start of the first conferences to enrich the economic future of the Middle East in 2004 an important platform for dialogue, expressing the hope this conference would follow previous conferences in terms of constructive, responsible and successful dialogue. HE al Rumaihi reveiwed conference program, which he described as "usesful", stressing Qatar''s interest in the region''s economies stems from its interest in the world and humanity as a whole . He expressed the hope that the conference will be an encouraging tool towards responding to the needs of the region and transfer it into a centre for energy and their derivatives as well as a room for coexistence with the economies of the crisis, noting that the Middle East has become a centre of political and economic transformations and the power of money. He also pointed out the necessity for all countries of the world, large and small to commit to international laws and work collectively in the face of international challenges and the development of the institutional work of the international system. He called for the cooperation of everyone to be a way that leads to achieving the desired goal. He called conference''s participants to benefit from the experiences of previous conferences and to draw lessons that benefit the region and the world as a whole and lead to the global development
