Doha Forum Begins

Doha, Feb. 18 (
BNA ) Foreign Minister, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al
Khalifa, took part in the ``US and Islamic World Forum`` which began
its activities in Qatar today.
A number of
foreign ministers, politicians, intellectuals, specialized Islamic
and US affairs academicians participated in the forum. Shaikh Khalid
delivered a speech at the opening session of the forum related to
the historic relations between the US and Western countries and the
relations existing between it and the Islamic world. He stressed
that the three religions congealed together in a peaceful
atmosphere, emphasizing on the need to continue this relationship to
eradicate misconceptions and barriers that cripple peaceful
coexistence between the West and Islamic world. Meanwhile, in the
opening session of the forum, the Qatari Foreign Minister, the
Malaysian Foreign Minister, the US Assistant Secretary of State for
Foreign Affairs and the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC)
Secretary General spoke during the event. Shaikh Khalid also
attended a work dinner hosted by the Qatari Minister of Foreign
Affairs in honour of participating ministers and delegations.
