Arab League Praises Qatar's Efforts to Reach Peace Agreement in Afghanistan

The Arab League expressed on Wednesday appreciation for the efforts of the State of Qatar to reach an agreement for bringing peace to Afghanistan, which was signed by the United States of America and the Taliban on Saturday in Doha.


In a statement read by Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs in the Sultanate of Oman Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, during a press conference held after the ministerial-level meeting in the regular session 153, the Arab League affirmed that the signing of the agreement is an important first step towards completing the comprehensive and sustainable peace process in Afghanistan through the mediation and efforts of the State of Qatar.


The Arab League appreciated the efforts made by the State of Qatar to reach this agreement and its sponsorship of all its stages, looking forward to completing the peace process in Afghanistan during the next stage, as it brings together all the spectrums, regions and components of Afghan society to ensure a secure future for the Afghan people.


The Arab League also appreciated the efforts of US President Donald Trump and the American administration, the United States' keenness on the success of the negotiations, and the Taliban's keenness to reach the peace agreement.
